The EDANA Cocktail Party at Jumeirah Beach Dubai, 10th Feb 2009. Yet another magical EDANA evening, this time in the luxuriant surrounds of the Burj al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotels.
In his opening remarks, Pierre Wiertz welcomed the 270+ delegates on behalf of EDANA's most international Board ever, observing "We are here to forget the crises and challenges facing the industry."
This proved all to easy at the EDANA cocktail party the same evening, when the limitless food and wine was served outside the iconic Burj al Arab hotel on a balmy starlit Dubai evening.
Mahdy Katbe provided an inspirational Keynote Address to open the conference, the details of which will appear in a later edition. He broke with tradition and concluded his speech with a song, which happened to be one of my favourites: Bob Dylan's "Forever Young". It's significance to the nonwovens industry will be apparent to those who know it.
And in case you're wondering, he didn't attempt to sing it. It was the original and genuine which captivated the audience for 4 minutes. A hard act to follow.
